On Sunday morning the Perth yoga community is gathering together at King’s Park to salute the sun 108 times. The global mala (Yoga Aid) event is an annual fundraiser that is practiced all over the world to raise money for some very worthy causes. Twelve teachers will lead 9 rounds each and this year I have been asked to lead one of the rounds. I feel honoured to be a part of this event and am excited to be around the energy of a hundred-plus like-minded people.
Lots of people have been asking me why 108? It has long been held as a sacred number but the theories as to why are deep and vast, spanning science, maths and various religions.
